Welcome back to North Penn Now’s weekly newsletter! Today is Giving Tuesday and among the worthy local causes to potentially support: VMSC Emergency Medical Services is aiming to raise $100,000 to buy two full-body patient simulators that mimic human anatomy and physiology. Officials say the manikins facilitate training that can be the difference between life and death in real emergencies. You can learn more here.

🚨 Deck The Halls, But Not Your Car
Your car will look nice if decorated with holiday lights, but it will get you on the naughty list.
Hatfield Police issued a friendly warning: It is illegal to have ornamental lighting on any part of a vehicle and they will ticket offenders, no matter the season. The lights can distract other drivers and lead to crashes and worse on the roads.
“Nothing can be altered in color from how it came off the line at the manufacturer,” the warning said. “We have an early Christmas present for you if you choose to be one of those who decide to do something different for the holidays.”
⛪️ North Wales Mulls Arts Center Direction

Photo courtesy of North Wales Borough
North Wales' new town-owned arts and cultural center is almost ready to open, but its operations plan remains unclear.
Borough council members must decide between two oversight models for the center: A volunteer commission or a formal non-profit organization.
The center is located at the former St. Luke's United Church of Christ on Main Street. The council has already signed lease deals with Partnership TMA of Montgomery County for classroom space and AAC Event Catering to run events in the facility's banquet hall. But the performing arts piece remains up in the air.
North Wales already has commissions (i.e. parks and recreation) and the council would have direct control in that model. But officials said that model creates some challenges and limits revenue opportunities like memberships and state grants. Establishing a non-profit would allow the center to tap into those resources more efficiently and provide other revenue-driving offerings like memberships. But the council would have less control and the legal process could take months.

👨⚖️ Sentencing In Hatfield Woman's Death
A Quakertown man has received a jail sentence after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide of a Hatfield woman.
Aiden Jarrett, 20, will serve 11 1/2 to 23 months. He also pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge. Jarrett was racing his friend on Bethlehem Pike/Route 309 in May 2023, going over 110 MPH, when his car hit the passenger side door of another vehicle, killing 62-year-old Ida Lillo. Her husband, Louis Lillo III, was driving and suffered serious injuries; he died 11 months later.
The friend, 20-year-old Evan Buckman of Marlborough, was acquitted of vehicular homicide charges in September. But he will either be fined or have his license suspended on illegal racing, speeding, and reckless driving charges. Jarrett will also have to serve his parole on house arrest with electronic monitoring, plus 23 months of probation.
