๐Ÿš’ Delivery Driver Helps Thwart House Fire

James Short | North Penn Now

A FedEx driver likely saved a Montgomery home last week.

The driver was working his route when he saw smoke coming from a Cricklewood Circle home. He knocked on the door, determined no one was home, and then went next door to alert the neighbors to evacuate.

At least 12 agencies and VMSC Emergency Medical Services reported to the scene within minutes and knocked down the fire soon after. Officials determined the blaze was a third-story attic fire; the home has solar panels on its roof. There were no injuries, but the home is currently uninhabitable. The family who owns the home is staying with friends in Doylestown.

๐Ÿš” Sunday Morning Shooting At Shopping Mall

Montgomery Police are investigating an alleged shooting at the 202 Marketplace. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday; calls to 911 said multiple shots were fired from inside a pickup truck and appeared to be targeting random people. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public, and they have identified the individuals involved and obtained the truck's license plate.

๐Ÿ”ต Lansdale Code Blue To Open New Shelter

The organizers of Lansdaleโ€™s Code Blue shelter have renewed calls for volunteers as they move toward opening a second location.

Code Blues are declared by Montgomery County (and other governments) when winter conditions pose a serious threat to homeless people, granting them access to emergency shelter.

Organizers said they anticipate Code Blue conditions will continue until at least next week, necessitating the need for volunteers to prepare food and staff the shelter, which is located at Trinity Lutheran Church. There are also now plans in place to open a second shelter for women at the Wissahickon Park building โ€” the current Code Blue shelter only hosts men. The new shelter could open as soon as this week.

James Short | North Penn Now

Meet Kuzco, a three-year-old Terrier mix currently being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue. He was found as a stray in South Carolina and has made his way north; he is a happy dog who loves to meet people and go on walks; he gets along with other dogs and cats. Kuzco is crate- and house-trained and would do well in a family with kids and a yard.

If you are interested in adopting Kuzco or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
