No, this is not an April Fool’s joke.

Montgomery Township has debuted wavy double yellow and white shoulder lines on Grays Lane to cut down on speeding.

No, seriously.

The chicanes — a manmade serpentine curve in a roadway meant to force drivers to make extra turns — are designed to calm traffic and force vehicles to slow down. A similar setup was previously used in Hatfield, but has since been removed. Delineators will soon be placed on the road as well.

“Our Highway Safety officers and traffic engineers have determined that this is the best course of action for the area to ensure the safety of the local residents,” said Montgomery Township Police public information assistant Ava Komasz in a Facebook post.

“These traffic calming measures are being installed due to the numerous complaints/concerns we receive from residents about the ‘speedway’ Grays Lane has become. It was discussed at length with our traffic engineers, highway safety officers, and public orks.”

🚨 Ejection crash in Franconia

James Short | North Penn Now

A driver was ejected from their vehicle and taken to a local hospital after a one-car accident in Franconia Township last Wednesday. The accident disrupted the intersection of Godshall and Morwood Roads; the driver was propelled into the woods and the car landed in trees off the roadway.

🚔 Hatfield cops probe mystery car chase

Hatfield Police are seeking answers after an unconfirmed car chase caused damage to Twin Woods Golf Course last Tuesday.

Cops said a witness saw a black sedan traveling on West Orvilla Road suddenly turn onto the course property between 4-7 p.m. The car drove across the lawn, damaging it, before exiting onto East Orvilla Road.

A police vehicle was allegedly following the sedan with lights and siren activated. But it is unclear which agency was giving chase -- Hatfield cops said it was not them or another nearby local force; at least one witness believes it was state police.

Hatfield Police are asking residents near the golf course to check home surveillance cameras for any footage of the incident, specifically if a siren can be heard to pinpoint an exact time.

🍦 Little’s expansion plans includes Souderton

Little’s North Wales, known for its ice cream, water ice and cafe operations, will expand into Souderton this summer. The eatery will operate the poolside concession stands in Souderton and Warrington; it already handles concessions for Lansdale and Upper Gwynedd. The company is currently hiring for the Summer 2025 season.

🐶 Rescue Dog of the Week

James Short | North Penn Now

Meet Jovie, a six-year-old bulldog being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue.

Jovie was saved from a puppy mill in Lancaster. She is affectionate and cheerful and has a silly, fun-loving personality. Jovie is crate-trained and almost completely house-trained; she gets along with other dogs and is great with kids. She would do well with most families, but a house without a lot of staircases would be preferable.

If you are interested in adopting Jovie or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
