๐ฑ Towamencin Supervisorโs Video Sparks Outrage

A now-former Towamencin Township supervisor was forced to resign her position after mimicking Elon Musk's alleged Nazi salute in a social media post.
Laura Smith, a Republican and the vice chairwoman, posted a video TikTok last Thursday mimicking the controversial gesture made by the billionaire during President Donald Trump's inauguration. She later commented, "I made a post to stir the pot. Because I can.โ
The post sparked immense local, national and international backlash.
Smith resigned on Sunday, saying the post was "greatly mischaracterized" in a statement announcing her decision. Smith also stepped down from roles with the Knights for Life non-profit organization and the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library Board of Trustees.
๐จ Weapons Found In North Penn Student's Car
Police found unspecified drugs, weapons and a deer carcass in a North Penn High student's car following a traffic stop near the school.
Towamencin Police said the incident is under investigation, but all indications are there was never any threat to the school. The carcass and weapons are believed to be hunting-related. The unnamed 18-year-old student was not in custody and had not been charged; North Penn High Principal Kyle Hassler said a traffic violation precipitated the incident in an email to parents about the incident last week.

Fischer's Park in Towamencin will host a North Penn YMCA-run summer camp for the second straight year. The township approved the return after Bob Varga, an executive with the YMCA's Lansdale branch, said there were "zero complaints" about last year's camp, which ran from June 17 to Aug. 23 and saw roughly 30 kids from kindergarten through eighth grade participating each week. This year's camp is expected to be similar.

๐ถ Rescue of the Week

Courtesy of Home At Last Dog Rescue
Meet Spooky, an 18-month-old English Pointer mix being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue.
Spooky was rescued as a stray in South Carolina; she better responds to the name Milly. She is 45 pounds of love and joy and loves to play with her toys and treats. Spooky/Milly also does well with cats and other dogs. She can be a bit skittish with new people, but she quickly warms up. She is crate- and house-trained and would do best in a patient home.
If you are interested in adopting Spooky/Milly or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
